I’m having posting guilt but don’t know what the hell to post on since my life is kind of in the shitter right now. I’m a confessionalist blogger (the Sylvia Plath of blogging except not that talented or depressed) who doubts very seriously that anyone wants to read about the end of an almost six year relationship (mutual breakup – still friends – really miss having someone to eat dinner with every night and Sunday afternoon sex).Anyway, that was six months ago, and I am full-on bouncing back.

However, I met Transition Man just a month into that break-up, and, although TM was performing his duties refurbing Break-up Girl’s self confidence while providing both a distraction and someone something to do on Saturday night, someone forgot to tell TM that a transition man should NEVER blow-off Bouncing Back Break-up Girl (me) without an explanation. An aside – he was (blog rule: one should always refer to one’s ex in the past tense – as if he were dead) going through a really difficult time with a death in his immediate family, so he is forgiven and not on any shit list of mine.

Speaking of shit lists, my professional life is anything but pleasant right now. I’m not going to bore you with details, but, suffice it to say, it is bad enough that my mother attempted to cheer me up by calling this morning to remind me that “at least you don’t have to look at pictures of dead people anymore.” You are right, Mom. I’ll admit that this job is a step above reading police reports with graphic photos of the injuries of victims of violent crime.

My personal favorite was the morning when I took a sip of coffee, flipped the page, and, voila, a picture of the body of a woman who had been decapitated by a DUI driver; it was about 9am. I am not making this up. I’m not even exaggerating. (Thank god for black and white photography.) Mom, I’m looking for the positive in this situation - dead bodies no more. . .

Boring but true: I have some of the best friends in the world; my family is incredibly supportive (and they feed me dinner all of the time); and tonight I’m warm, healthy, and hopeful.
